The sight before me, as I looked over the bridge rail, was at once incongruous and inspiring.  In the median strip between the lanes of highway was a tall, perhaps six-foot-tall sunflower, defiantly in full bloom.  Traffic zoomed by; yet it stood there in the barren environment.  Somehow its seed had found soil in the small crack, taken root in the unseen ground, and grown.  Not only surviving--it flourished magnificently!  (Cotter, 157)  The earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. Psalm 33:5.
